Stepwest Stories is back, and November’s star is Guillaume from The Netherlands, who has been doing a Marketing internship here in Vancouver! We spent some time with Guillaume in order to find out more about his international internship experience in Canada!

If you’re under the age of 35, are registered as a student in your home country and are from one of many eligible countries around the world, getting an International Co-Op Visa for Canada will allow you to experience living and doing your international internship in Canada, without undergoing the usual costly expenses of going on an expensive university exchange program. This is the reason why Guillaume came all the way to Vancouver, before graduating in the Netherlands with his degree in International Communication.

He is currently undertaking his marketing internship at a company related to the promotion of Luxury Hotels across the world. They’re based here in Vancouver, but promote and provide expert advise on over 2500 of the best luxury hotels in 134 countries, and work with impressive partners like Visa, and the American Multinational Financial Services Corporation. Guillaume is working in the marketing department and he is helping with different online marketing tasks, including graphic design, something that he really enjoys and we realized he is really good at!

During our time with Guillaume, he confirmed how rewarding this professional experience has been so far for him. Living in Canada and being immersed in a new culture is not only strengthening his resume and enhancing his professional development, but also giving him a competitive edge above his peers that will really help him upon returning home and seeking his first job back home. He also felt really welcomed and helped by our services and he shared with us how useful it was to have everything sorted before coming to Canada, including the interview and visa application process: “It’s good having someone ready to help you out and ready to explain everything that you need to know.”

After gaining 4 months of work experience in Canada, Guillaume is about to finish his marketing internship in Vancouver and he is already planning his next adventure: a road trip in USA, as he mentioned in the video! Nonetheless, he has really grown to love Vancouver and definitely doesn’t hesitate to recommend everybody to come here and make the most of your stay in this awesome city. Check out the video below to find out more about Guillaume’s story!
