Canada Working Holiday

Our Canada Working Holiday programs help you live, work and travel in Canada – with a guaranteed job before you arrive. We know all the ins and outs to make this your adventure of a lifetime!

Why Do a Working Holiday in Canada

A working holiday in Canada allows you to spend more time exploring while you work and travel the country. Immerse yourself in a different culture, gain work experience and meet some amazing people along the way. All while getting paid for it!

Living and working in Canada gives you the perfect combination of urban and outdoor adventures. You’ll be on the doorstep of the world’s best natural landscapes: the towering mountains of the Rockies (using Banff and Lake Louise as a base, naturally); BC’s old-growth forests, North America’s best ski mountains in Whistler, Revelstoke, Fernie…the list goes on. Not to mention larger-than-life wildlife (think: bears, moose and whales).

In between all this wild, spectacular beauty, you’ll find buzzing, multicultural metropolises like Vancouver and Toronto, and some of the friendliest people around.

FAQs

What is the Canada Working Holiday visa?

The Holy Grail for young people wanting to work and travel in Canada! Part of the Canadian government’s International Experience Canada (IEC) program, the Working Holiday visa is a work permit allowing international youth from participating countries to live, work and travel in Canada for up to two years. Check out the Working Holiday visa requirements to see if you are eligible to apply.

Who can apply for the Canada Working Holiday visa?

In order to apply for the Canada Working Holiday visa, your country of nationality must have an agreement with International Experience Canada (IEC) for a working holiday permit. If so, you simply need to be between 18 and 35 years old (in some countries 30) and secure your invitation! You can find out which nationalities are able to apply for a working holiday visa here.

Can you really guarantee my job in Canada?

Yes, we will guarantee your job in Canada – or your money back! Since 2010, we have helped participants from more than 35 countries get work experience in Canada, so you’re in safe hands. Before you submit any payment, we’ll arrange a free consultation so that we can answer all of your questions and give you a clear idea of how the process will work.

How much will I earn during my working holiday in Canada?

When it comes to wages, the minimum wage in British Columbia is CAD $15.65 per hour, while in Alberta the minimum wage is CAD $15 per hour. That being said, the amount you earn will depend on your role. For example, as a server, you will earn tips on top of your base wage, which in tourism hotspots like Whistler and Banff can add up! Plus, on our Canada Working Holiday programs, we’ll secure you a resort job with discounted staff accommodation, enabling you to save more for your travels.

Can I pay my expenses when taking a working holiday in Canada?

Yes! The Working Holiday visa allows you to work anywhere in Canada for the whole duration of your permit, and for unlimited hours. This will help you fund your stay AND your travels while you are here. The idea is for you to be financially independent while you work in Canada and make friends from around the world, and try new things!

If I am working, will I still be able to travel during my working holiday?

Of course! Even though you will be working during your working holiday, you will have free days that you will be able to use to make the most of your time in Canada. As most of the jobs are hospitality related you might be working during weekends or holidays, but the positive is that you will be able to travel when flights and hotels are not expensive!

What work can you do on the Canada Working Holiday visa?

The Working Holiday visa is an open work permit, meaning that you can work in most jobs anywhere in Canada for any employer you want! There are no limitations. See our Working Holiday program pages for more information on the type of jobs available:

Where can I work in Canada on a working holiday?

We offer working holiday job placements across British Columbia and Alberta. Check out our working holiday locations page for a breakdown of our most popular destinations.

How will you help me find a job in Canada?

During your consultation, we will discuss your preferences, including destinations in Canada, potential job positions you are interested in, and so on. Once we’ve got a good idea of your dream working holiday, we will consult our little black book to match you with the perfect job to meet your goals.

Have a specific employer in mind? You can of course let us know if there is an employer that you have an interest in working for, but please remember that you will still need to be called for an interview. If the employer that you are interested in is hiring we will do our best to set you up for success – including resume revisions and interview preparation – so that you give the best interview possible!

Our advice: don’t get discouraged if the employer you had in mind is not hiring or did not select you. We work with so many great companies and are 100% confident that we will find you the best opportunity!

What happens if I fail a job interview?

We will get feedback from the employer and work with you to move forward. If there was a problem during the interview that can be corrected, we will pass it along to help you improve on your interview skills. If you just did not get the job for qualification requirements, no worries! We will be with you until you get a job offer in Canada.

If I travel with a friend, can we work together?

We have placed couples and friends together with the same employer. If we can not guarantee that you will be working in the same department, we can make sure that you and your friend or partner travel together and enjoy your Canadian working holiday experience together!

If you decide to travel on our Vancouver Working Holiday program, you will still be able to live together even if you are unable to work at the same host company. Plus, each of you will have a different job that will allow you to meet even more people, leave your comfort zone, and, if English is not your first language, give you time to practice!

What happens when I travel to Canada?

Before you travel to Canada everything will be already organized for you! One of our travel coordinators will be guiding you through the whole process: from your arrival at the airport so that you can get your work permit with no issues, to setting up your life in Canada (from getting your SIN to opening a free bank account, and so on!).
