Can I See a List of Host Companies or Choose the Company I Want to Do My Internship With in Toronto?

We work with several host companies in Toronto in different industries, but remember you must be hired first! Companies in Canada must do a process with the Government of Canada through the Employer Portal to host you, and pay a fee so that you can apply for your internship permit, so you must pass the interview! This is why you can not select the company where you want to work, the company will select you! Exactly like the real world, right?

If you have any specific interest in any company in Toronto, let us know during your consultation with us. Even if we can not guarantee that you will be doing your internship there, this will help us a lot to understand the type of company you would like to work for.

Do I Need a Car to Commute to My Internship in Toronto?

Public transport is the best way to get around the city. The Toronto Transit Commission has a subway / metro, streetcars and buses that connect the city. So no worries, you will not need to have a car while in Toronto to attend your internship!

Can I Easily Find Accommodation in Toronto for My Internship Period?

Yes, you can choose between getting started with an Airbnb or a shared apartment, that you can find once you are here in Toronto. Our team will be supporting you on every single step to make sure that when you land in the city, you will have a place to stay.

As our internships last between two and six months, we highly recommend our participants have accommodation for the entire internship duration arranged upon arrival, so you can be sure to make the most of your professional work experience in Toronto.

Will I Obtain Academic Credits Towards My University Program Back Home?

YES! The vast majority of our participants use their internships in Canada towards credits for their studies back in their home country. If you let us know from the very beginning what your University, College or Master requirements are for you to get your internship validated by your educational institution, we will make sure that your host company understands all the requirements as well.

What Can I Do During My Free Time in Toronto?

Toronto is one of the biggest cities in North America (bigger than every US city besides New York and LA) with no shortage of things to do! You can get well acquainted with the city on the Distillery district walking tour, watch sunset from the famous CN Tower, take a day trip to check out the famous Niagara falls, eat your way around the world in Toronto’s different neighborhoods (think: Little Italy, Chinatown, Little India… the list goes on). You’ll also be close to US cities like Boston or New York. There are no more restrictions for international travel so you will be able to visit the USA and return to Canada to continue your internship experience!

Can My Internship Turn Into a Full Time Job if I Want to Stay in Toronto After?

We have seen this happening among our participants in the long term, but remember that our internship program is not aimed for you to stay working in Canada. The short answer is no, you cannot just remain in Canada as you will need a new work permit if that’s your plan.

You will be traveling with an internship work permit or visa, which is an employer specific work permit. Normally our participants return to their home country to graduate from their studies. You can later on travel with a working holiday visa to Canada if you are planning to work here!
