Program Overview

Comparing Canada’s summer and winter seasons is like comparing apples to oranges. They’re both completely different, yet utterly incredible. Summer resort jobs in Canada are vast and varied; you can live and work at a hotel surrounded by vineyards in the Okanagan, work at a five-star resort in the Canadian Rockies or embrace island life in surfer town Tofino on Vancouver Island. You’ll be able to spot wildlife out of hibernation (bears, wolves and more), road-trip to festivals across the country and embrace the ‘patio experience’ across Canada’s bustling cities.

We work with the best resort and hotel employers in Whistler, Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise, Kananaskis, Revelstoke, the Okanagan, Tofino, and other locations across Canada. Each place has its own unique draws, and we’ll set you up in the place that best suits your interests.

Where can I work in Canada for the summer?

There are so many amazing destinations to work in Canada during the summer. Have you ever experienced those beautiful blue lakes? Well, what about waking up to one every day! You could work in:

  • Tofino: beautiful beaches, old growth forest and surf
  • Kelowna or the Okanagan: BC’s wine region
  • Whistler: BC’s adventure playground with hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting, river kayaking, climbing and so much more
  • Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper: Alberta’s adventure playground! Hiking, kayaking, climbing and generally discovering the Canadian Rockies
  • Plus so many other beautiful Canadian resorts on the West Coast!

What type of summer jobs can I get in Canada?

Our jobs are normally available all year round. The only specification of the summer is that you will find more positions outdoors. For example, the restaurants will open their patios, you can work for a golf course in Whistler, or close to a lake in Banff where there are kayak rentals, and so on.

Also, during the summer months, there are a lot of activities and rentals close to the hotels such as mountain biking, rafting and climbing, with many roles available. Not to forget events that are very seasonal, such as weddings, where you can work as a server to get some extra hours and save more money!

How much does a summer job pay in Canada?

As a baseline, the minimum wage in British Colombia is CAD $15.35 and CAD $15 in Alberta. That being said, the amount you earn in Canada will depend on the number of hours you work, the job, the industry, the location, and so on.

Can I get a job in Canada with no experience?

There are openings for all types of roles, from entry-level positions for candidates that might have a weaker English level and not much experience, to roles for professionals in hospitality! Summers are such a busy time for resorts and hotels that we will definitely find the right role for you.

Can I work in Canada for three months?

While there is no set time you can work in Canada, most summer jobs will require you work the entire summer season, which lasts around six months. Remember that the Working Holiday visa is a one-time deal, so take advantage of your time in Canada! Trust us, the time will fly by!

How easy is it to commute to the cities in Canada during summer?

Very easy! Depending on where you are located, the closest town or city can be as near as 30 minutes (Whistler to Squamish), 90 minutes (Banff to Calgary), or two hours (Lake Louise to Calgary). The one resort destination that is the farthest from a city is Jasper. It is located four hours from Edmonton and five hours from Calgary. However, Jasper is a resort town well equipped with everything you need. During the summer season it is much easier to connect between resort towns and cities due to the lack of snow. This makes it much easier to travel during your downtime, plus, many hotels offer discounts on their hotels in different cities, so you could stay at a very nice hotel for a very cheap price while visiting!

When do I need to apply for a summer working holiday in Canada?

As soon as you know that you want to spend the summer in Canada! The sooner the better, because you will be eligible for more roles. The closer you get to the summer season the less positions will be available, so if you can start your application in April, resorts and hotels will already be hiring.

Am I guaranteed a summer resort job with staff accommodation?

Yes! All our potential employers for the summer season provide staff housing or accommodation to our participants, and we will help you arrange everything regarding this.

What are my options after the summer season?

If you want to stay to experience Canada’s famous ski season (you definitely should!), we can inform your employer that you would like to stay longer and that way they can count on you for the winter season! Want to know more? Check out our Ski Resort Working Holiday program.

You could also change the scenery and decide to move to a different province or city. Remember that your working holiday permit is an open work permit, so you can work anywhere in Canada. Do we recommend you stay more than one season? Absolutely! A working holiday is only once in a lifetime experience, so make sure to make the most of it!
